This month features the 9th annual ArtFutura, a juried art exhibition of more than 150 emerging and established artists benefitting the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago’s Art Therapy program. Proceeds from this event allow the hospital to maintain an Art Therapist at the hospital to work with patients. Art Therapy is based on the belief that the creative process involved in the creation of art is healing and life-enhancing – making a difference in the lives of people with physical disabilities.
James Rondeau, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, The Art Institute of Chicago, will serve as juror of the 2011 submissions. All chosen finalists’ work will be on display at a gallery in the River North neighborhood of Chicago. Selected pieces completed by patients in the Art Therapy program will also be shown in another room. The exhibit will run June 2-9 open to the public with volunteer docents explaining your work and all artwork available for sale. This year the ArtFutura exhibition will also be featured in Chicago Gallery News and the Chicago Gallery Art Walk.
