The Global Fund is an international financing institution that fights AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria with a 21st century approach: partnership, transparency, constant learning and results-based funding.
The Global Fund focuses on three of the world’s most devastating diseases: AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis. Since it was founded in 2002, the Fund has given $22.9 billion to over 1,000 efforts in 151 countries.
Rather than funding branches of its own organisation, The Global Fund has partners all over the world who access the fund to do important work locally. Experts determine wether they will distribute mosquito nets to protect families from malaria in Honduras, train peer counsellors who work with teenagers diagnosed with HIV in South Africa, or provide equipment for the diagnosis of tuberculosis to clinics in Kazakhstan.
