Painting donated for LGBTQI+ CAMP OUT fundraiser

I have donated one of my paintings for auction to raise funds for CAMP OUT, an Australian organisation that runs a camp for LGBTQI+ and gender diverse teens. In my teens, I would have loved a camp with open workshops and informal discussions on things like identity & what it means to be LGBTIQ-identified or questioning your gender or sexual orientation, dealing with homophobia & transphobia, coming out in highschool, coming out to parents or friends, and how to be an awesome LGBTIQ ally.

While this painting was scooped up straightaway, if you’d like to purchase any of my available works I’ll be happy to donate 25% to this great organisation. Just specify in your message!

Cayte Latta Memorial Award for Visual Arts

It is an honour to have won ACON’s Cayte Latta memorial award for visual arts! I’ve donated 20% of the prize money back to ACON and will use the remainder to paint some of the wonderful LGBTQI+ community heroes I met at the award ceremony.

ACON is an Australian, New South Wales based health promotion organisation specialising in HIV prevention, HIV support and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) health.

Established in 1985, we’re here to end HIV transmission among gay and homosexually active men, and promote the lifelong health of LGBTI people and people with HIV. – acon.org.au

My artwork is hanging in a Profit-for-Purpose Hotel with rooms designed by inspirational women like Sia and Sally Rugg!

Inspirational Australian women have designed rooms in two hotels that put profits towards programs supporting women and girls. Sia, Lee-Lin Chin, Nakkiah, Missy Higgins, Tina Arena, Bindi Irwin, Deborah Mailman and Sally Rugg each had input on their room designs, and the opening was good fun!

I’m so happy to be supporting by hanging a painting in Sally Rugg’s Pride room, a safe space for queer women and non-binary people. Proceeds from the sale of this piece (as well as artwork by Bluethumb Artists in other rooms) will go directly towards the frontline of Song Hotel’s programs and services. Thanks to Jenny Valentish for the great write up ‘A night in Sydney with a Sia chandelier and Bindi Irwin’s khaki shirts’ in The Guardian 🦄🌈🎉

Exhibiting with 100% proceeds going to LGBTIQ crisis & info counseling service, Switchboard Victoria

I am pleased to be participating in a 3-month virtual exhibition to benefit Switchboard Victoria.  The exhibition entitled “series 01 // love” is in response to the Marriage Equality debate in Australia and invites artists to submit works on the theme of love.  Artworks will comprise a set of postcards to be sold, with all proceeds going to Switchboard Victoria, an information and crisis counselling service for the LGBTIQ community who have seen a 25% rise in calls since the announcement of the postal vote.

The aim of this project is two-fold, i) to promote sharing of positive images in light of the hate messages and debate going on at present, and ii) to raise funds for Switchboard Victoria. Images are released weekly via http://www.facebook.com/cartooningwithpride, pre-order your set of postcards today!

My postcard features ‘Bec and Isa’ oil and acrylic on canvas, 2017.
